How to view your account balance and statements
Your account balance and statements are available anytime through your Retired.com online account — here's where to find them and what each one shows.
Steps / Explanation
Your online account dashboard shows your current cash balance and a summary of the assets held inside your IRA. For alternative assets — real estate, private equity, promissory notes, and similar holdings — the value shown reflects the most recent Fair Market Valuation (FMV) on file, not a live market price. For publicly traded assets, the value updates based on current market pricing.
Where to find your statements
Monthly and annual statements are available for download from the statements section of your online account. Each statement includes:
Beginning and ending cash balance for the period.
All transactions processed during the period — contributions, transfers, rollovers, distributions, and investment fundings.
Current holdings and their reported values as of the statement date.
Why an alternative asset's value might not change month to month
Because non-publicly-traded assets are valued using the FMV you submit annually — not a live market feed — their reported value typically stays the same on your statements until the next FMV submission or a triggering event (like a sale). This is expected and does not mean the asset is being ignored; it reflects how Self-Directed IRA (SDIRA) valuations work for illiquid assets.
If something on your statement looks wrong
Contact the Service Team if a transaction, balance, or valuation on your statement doesn't match what you expect. Most discrepancies are timing differences (a transaction posted after the statement date) or an FMV that needs to be updated.
Common questions
How often are statements generated?
Monthly statements are generated automatically. You can also download an on-demand summary from your account dashboard at any time.
Why doesn't my real estate holding show a different value each month?
Its value on your statement reflects your most recent annual FMV submission, not a live market estimate. See "What is fair market valuation (FMV) and why it matters" for how FMV works.
Can I get a statement for a specific date range, like for a loan application?
Contact the Service Team — they can generate a statement for a custom date range or a point-in-time account summary.
