This article explains which digital assets you can hold in your Retired.com account and where to find the current list.
Steps / Explanation
Retired.com supports a wide range of cryptocurrencies and digital assets for trading inside your Self-Directed IRA (SDIRA) — from widely held assets like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) to a broad selection of other established digital assets across market sectors such as smart-contract networks, decentralized finance (DeFi), and infrastructure tokens.
Where to find the current list
The in-app asset selector is the authoritative, always-current list. To see it, open the Self-Trading page in the app or online portal, choose an account and order direction, and browse or search the Asset list. Every asset shown there is available to trade in your account today.
The supported list evolves — assets are added as they meet the platform's custody, liquidity, and compliance requirements, and an asset can become temporarily or permanently untradable. If an asset you hold is restricted from trading, you'll still see the position in your account; contact the Service Team with questions about a specific asset.
A few things support does — and doesn't — mean
An asset appearing in the list means you can buy, sell, and hold it in your account, with custody handled by Digital Trust, our custodian. It is not a recommendation — neither Retired.com nor Digital Trust evaluates, endorses, or advises on any asset. Which assets suit your retirement strategy is your decision. We recommend consulting a tax advisor or attorney for guidance specific to your situation.
Common questions
Can you add support for a specific coin I want? Asset support is reviewed on an ongoing basis. Contact the Service Team to ask about a specific asset — requests are passed along, though support isn't guaranteed.
Why can't I find an asset that another exchange offers? IRA custody has stricter requirements than a personal exchange account. Assets must meet custody, liquidity, and compliance standards before they can be supported.
Are the assets in Bundles the same as the individually tradable assets? Bundles are built from supported assets. See What are Bundles? for how themed collections work.
