How to submit a Deposit Submission form

Report a deposit or payment to your account using the Deposit Submission form in your portal.

This article walks through using the Deposit Submission form in your portal to report a deposit or payment coming into your account — such as income from an asset your account holds, a contribution, a fee payment, or a rollover.

Note: Your account currently runs on the BitcoinIRA online portal, so the screens below show BitcoinIRA branding. The steps are the same for your Retired.com account. The look of these screens will change as Retired.com rolls out its own interface.

The Deposit Submission form tells your custodian, Digital Trust, about a deposit and how to record it. It's different from depositing cash from a linked bank account — see How to add funds from a linked bank account for that. Because the details you enter depend on the kind of deposit you're reporting, choose the options that apply to your situation as you go.

What you'll need

  • Access to your online portal (you're signed in)

  • The type of deposit you're reporting and the amount

  • For an asset payment: the asset the payment relates to and how the payment breaks down (for example, principal versus interest)

Steps

1. Open Account Settings

From your dashboard, select your name in the top-right menu, then select Account Settings.

2. Go to Account Actions

On the Account Settings page, select the Account Actions tab. You'll see a note that a secure form will open, powered by Digital Trust, our custodian.

3. Select the account and start the form

In the Select Account box, choose the account the deposit is going into. Then, in the list of forms, select Select next to Deposit Submission. The secure form opens.

4. Choose the deposit type

On the Deposit Information step, open the Deposit Type dropdown and choose the option that matches your deposit: Asset Payment, Contribution, Fee Payment, or Rollover. The fields shown next depend on the type you pick, so select the one that applies to you.

5. Enter the deposit details

The fields on this step change based on the Deposit Type you chose. Complete the ones shown for your deposit:

  • Asset Payment — choose the Asset Name the payment relates to; check This payment pays off the asset if it closes the asset out; enter the Total Payment Amount and, where they apply, the Allocated Interest Amount and Allocated Principal Amount; and choose a Payment Type (Rental / Property Income, Return of Principal, Sale / Maturity Proceeds, Interest / Earnings, Loan Payment, or Other).

  • Contribution — enter the Contribution Amount, choose the Contribution Tax Year, and choose Contribution Made Via (Bank Transfer (ACH or Wire), or Check). If you choose Check, enter the Check Number.

  • Fee Payment — enter the Amount, and the Check Number if you're paying by check.

  • Rollover — enter the Amount you're rolling over.

Select the entries that reflect your actual deposit, then select Continue.

6. Review and submit

On the Review & Submit step, check the summary of what you entered. Check the certification box confirming your information is correct, then select Submit. Submitting is a legally binding electronic signature. You'll see a confirmation that your information was successfully submitted, and you can close the window.

Common questions

When do I use this form instead of depositing cash from my bank?
Use the Deposit Submission form to report a deposit or payment coming into your account — for example, income from an asset your account holds, a contribution, a fee payment, or a rollover. To move cash in from a linked bank account, use the deposit flow described in the linked-bank article.

Which deposit type should I choose?
Choose the type that matches your deposit: Asset Payment, Contribution, Fee Payment, or Rollover. Because this choice affects how the deposit is recorded and reported, contact the Service Team if you're unsure which applies, and we recommend consulting a tax advisor or attorney for guidance specific to your situation.

What do the interest and principal amounts mean for an asset payment?
For a payment on an asset your account holds, the form asks you to split the total into the portions that are interest and principal so the payment is recorded correctly. If you're not sure how a payment breaks down, check the paperwork from the payer or contact the Service Team.

Does the deposit post immediately?
Submitting sends the form to Digital Trust to process — it records your submission rather than instantly settling funds. You can track activity under Transaction History in your portal.
