Cardano (ADA) is one of the cryptocurrencies eligible for staking in a Retired.com account. This article covers the specific minimums and timing that apply to staking ADA.
Steps / Explanation
Cardano runs on a proof-of-stake consensus model, so ADA held in your account can be staked to support the network and potentially earn rewards, credited directly to your account. If you meet the eligibility requirements in "What are the staking eligibility requirements?", you can stake or unstake ADA at any time through the asset's details page — see "Staking with Retired.com" for the exact steps.
By staking, you contribute to the network’s security, and in return, you may receive rewards deposited directly into your Retired.com account. Fulfillment and bonding periods may apply.

What these periods mean
Processing period is the time it takes Retired.com to batch and submit your staking or unstaking request.
Bonding period is Cardano's own network delay before a newly staked position starts earning.
Unbonding period for ADA is effectively none — once your unstaking request is processed, your ADA is available to trade without an additional network-side delay.
Rewards re-staked means ADA rewards are automatically added to your staked position rather than paid out as a separate available balance, compounding your stake over time.
See "How does staking work?" for how these component periods generally combine across different assets.
Common questions
Why is the ADA staking minimum so much higher than, say, Ethereum's?
Minimums reflect what's practical on each network, not relative value — Cardano's staking design and typical position sizes differ from Ethereum's.
If rewards are re-staked, do I ever see a separate reward payment I can spend?
No — for ADA, rewards compound into your staked position automatically rather than landing in your available cash balance. You'd need to unstake to access the value, including the compounded rewards.
Does the 22-day "earning wait time" mean I wait 22 days before I earn anything?
It's the estimated time from placing your staking request to your first earning cycle completing, combining processing, bonding, and the network's earning frequency — not a flat delay with nothing happening in between.
