What is Retired.com?
Retired.com is a retirement-focused investing platform built for people who want one place to grow, hold, and protect long-term wealth. You can invest in ETFs and stocks, buy and hold physical precious metals, and add digital assets like Bitcoin to your portfolio.
Is there really a $1,000 bonus for opening an account?
Yes. New qualifying accounts can earn up to a $1,000 bonus when you fund and meet the program terms. The bonus tier depends on your initial deposit and the product you open. Full details are on the offer disclosure page linked from each product page.
What can I invest in through my Retired.com account?
You can hold ETFs, individual stocks, physical gold and silver, gold and silver IRAs, precious metals IRAs, self-directed IRAs, and Bitcoin/crypto IRAs. You can mix traditional and alternative assets inside a single retirement plan.
How does a precious metals or Gold IRA actually work?
You open a self-directed IRA, fund it, and purchase IRS-approved gold, silver, platinum, or palladium through Retired.com. The metals go to an insured third-party depository in your IRA’s name. You can take physical delivery at retirement or sell back through us.
What about Bitcoin and crypto inside an IRA?
Our Bitcoin/crypto IRA lets you hold digital assets in a tax-advantaged retirement account. Assets are held in institutional-grade custody. We also offer crypto-backed lending through our LendingUSA partnership so you can access liquidity without selling.
How is a self-directed IRA different from a regular IRA?
A regular IRA limits you to stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. A self-directed IRA (SDIRA) at Retired.com lets you also hold alternative assets — precious metals, private placements, real estate, crypto, and more — inside the same tax-advantaged wrapper.
Can I roll over an existing 401(k) or IRA into Retired.com?
Yes. Most clients fund their account by rolling over a former employer 401(k) or transferring from another custodian. Rollovers are often tax-free when done correctly, and our team walks you through the paperwork. Standard transfers settle in two to four weeks.
Are my assets insured and protected?
Cash and securities are SIPC-protected up to applicable limits. Physical metals are stored in insured, segregated vaulting at audited depositories. Digital assets are held in institutional cold-storage custody with crime and specie insurance through our custody partners.
What does it cost?
Stock and ETF trading is commission-free. IRAs have a flat annual account fee plus a small custodian fee. Precious metals carry a transparent dealer spread, and storage is a flat annual fee tied to the depository — not a percentage of assets. Full fee schedules are on each product page.
When can I take money out, and what about RMDs?
Standard IRA rules apply. Penalty-free distributions start at age 59½. Required Minimum Distributions begin at age 73 under current law. For metals IRAs, you can take an in-kind distribution (the actual metal shipped to you) or a cash distribution.
